I feel trapped by my family

I feel trapped by my family | Prev

I think my girlfriend might be mentally ill

My girlfriend is 23 and I am 24, when my girlfriend was 21 and in her last year of uni she dropped out complaining of severe kidney pains, she was in tears all the time and we all thought that she was really ill, however the doctor that she went to told her that she wasn't ill. My girlfriend then asked for a referral and even she said she wasn't ill, she then went around to every doctor in the county until she found one that said she might have problems with her ovaries, which in the end she didn't have. She then went around every doctor in the neighbouring county until she found one that said she might have nerve damage, but so far, the results have been negative ?! She is now on a NHS waiting list and is expected to see a doctor next February, it's been over two years and we still row over whether she's ill, she's still out of uni, and she stays in bed all day.

I'm not denying that somewhere down the line, something is wrong, a few times away she'll start crying in agonising pain stemming from her kidney region, however I do trust the doctor's judgement and if four doctors say that there's nothing wrong - then surely that must be right ? I love my girlfriend but I don't believe she's a medical anomaly, though I genuinely think she has something wrong with her.

After two years it's really affecting our relationship, when we first met four years ago she was so much fun, now for the past two years she's been confined to her bedroom in tears for most of the week. I love her to bits but I think it's all in her head, .. how do I know that she's hasn't just gone mental ? I know that Uni wasn't going so well before she dropped out, how do I know that she isn't just using her illness as an excuse for dropping out of uni and being scared to own up to her problems.

There's another thing as well, my girlfriend is a vegan and has such a strange diet, she likes being skinny and sometimes i'm concerned she's too skinny, could her diet be the cause for all of this ? sometimes she will eat lots of junk food, then sometimes she will practically starve herself. i'm really scared for her and for our relationship.

Im a vegan myself....but i have been in hospital myself for several issues reagrding my diet. However mine was due to wrong food and lifestyle..I think your case is different but i work in a hparmacy myself and give advice to patients a lot. What i recondmend is, the NHS is not the best of services and experienced. However what you pay for is what you get. Try using a private health care, i can understand how expencive it may be but health covers tend to work good. I would advice treatment which is Ayuvedic, this is an old tradition used in the past and still works well today. The medication are herbal and all suilable for vegetarians. Personally i would advice the parient to have plenty of fluid but also eat things like spinage and darl an indian form of soup. I hope this has been useful and many luck..

If she's really ill then surely the doctors would of diagnosed something?
